Recently crowned Formula Renault Northern European Cup (NEC) champion Michael Benyahia enjoyed a successful visit to Renault Sport Formula 1 Team’s base in Enstone last Wednesday [11th October].
As part of his prize for winning the series, the R-Ace GP driver made the journey to the UK to gather experience on the team’s simulator along with a tour of the facilities and use of the training facilities, cementing the championship’s reputation for developing the next generation of professional racing drivers.
This follows successful running for the Moroccan in Valencia in his capacity as the Development Driver for Venturi’s Formula E outfit.
“Today was great, I really learnt a lot driving the Formula 1 car in the simulator. I had a go on one of the treadmills, it went well – there are some pretty hard workouts in there. It was really nice, I really enjoyed it.” said Benyahia.
“Dave, my personal trainer that day, was quite nice to me, we had some good laughs, it was pretty funny.
“In my opinion, the car and the simulator are quite different – the car has much more power, because it’s a Formula 1 car. But this one was a lot more difficult compared to what I’m used to and I kind of struggled but then I started getting used to it.”
