- Final round of captivating 2018 title fight moved to 21-23 September at the Baden-Würtemberg venue.
- Move strengthens relationship with Renault Sport Racing after a successful combinations of grids with the Eurocup at recent Spa event.
- Season resumes following summer break at the Hungaroring on 01-02 September.
The Formula Renault Northern European Cup (NEC) has taken the decision to bring forward the final round of the 2018 season at the Hockenheimring by a fortnight to 21-23 September.
This means the hotly-contested single seater category, which went into the summer break with six different pole-sitters, four different race winners and just 19 points blanketing the top five in the points table, will once again share grids with the Formula Renault Eurocup.
That move strengthens the championship as well as reducing the costs and logistics for teams with the series in action at the Nurburgring – a mere 216 kilometres away – just seven days prior.
It also throws the latest pool of Europe’s single seater talent onto a more prominent stage, with the weekend in support of the ADAC GT Masters alongside German Formula 4.
The existing date at the Nurburgring seven days prior [14-16 September] remains unaffected.
Jurgen Evers, Series Manager said, “Our collaboration with the Formula Renault Eurocup continues to go from strength to strength, highlighted by their invitation to join them at Hockenheim a fortnight earlier than planned when it became apparent the format on our original date, with racing on a Friday and Saturday, was less ideal for our teams.
“The move also simplifies the logistics for the teams with the event at Nurburgring just seven days prior. I think it’s a positive move and it sets up what I’m sure will be a very exciting end to the championship fight onto an even bigger platform at the ADAC GT Masters.”
