Formula Renault Eurocup winner Fenestraz praises NEC’s learning curve

Formula Renault Eurocup winner Sacha Fenestraz has praised the Northern European Cup for it’s role in his development during the title-winning campaign, after the Franco-Argentine secured the crown in Barcelona last weekend.

Fenestraz, who finished runner-up to team-mate Yifei Ye in a dominant display for Josef Kaufmann Racing in both contests at the NEC season finale at Hockenheim, was also a double victor when the feeder series – commonly acknowledged as a key step on the road to Formula 1 and professional motorsport – visited the Nurburgring in July.

As a result of his title success, Fenestraz now becomes the latest member of the Renault Sport Academy, a programme targeted at developing the next generation of motorsport stars within Renault Sport’s extensive racing activities.

“The car is just amazing, it’s a pleasure to drive it,” said Fenestraz.

“You have to get used to it, it’s quite hard, but it’s good to learn because it’s not an easy car and to be really fast is really hard – it’s a really good learning car.

“The NEC championship is good, there is a strong level of competition and it’s nice to be racing a lot. It’s been useful to do both championships.”
