2016 Formula Renault Northern European Cup (NEC) champion Lando Norris has taken another step towards fulfilling his ambition of racing in Formula 1 after securing the FIA European Formula 3 title at Hockenheim last weekend.
The Carlin driver is also under consideration for the role of Test Driver for McLaren next season after completing two tests with the world championship-winning outfit, the first as part of his prize for winning the McLaren Autosport BRDC Award last year.
He impressed on his outing at the Hungaroring and is likely to make the step up into the FIA Formula 2 Championship in 2018.
Norris’ progress further cements the NEC’s commitment to developing the next generation of professional racing drivers, with ambitions ranging from Formula 1 to sports cars.
He follows in the footsteps of past successes such as Valtteri Bottas, Carlos Sainz Jr., Robin Fryns, Sebastien Buemi and Daniil Kvyat.
