Formula Motorsport have confirmed they will compete in the Formula Renault Northern European Cup season-opener on the iconic Pau Grand Prix support package [11-13 May] with Nicolas Melin and Nicolas Pironneau.
The French outfit’s pedigree in the 2.0 litre Formula Renault car is proven, with the team securing the popular VdeV title last season in the hands of Gilles Hireau.
Whilst the event at Pau will mark VdeV race-winner Pironneau’s debut in the category, Melin contested a NEC event at Spa-Francorchamps in 2016.
The latter also competed in the Michelin Le Mans Cup and European Le Mans Series in 2017, demonstrating his ability over multiple disciplines.
A healthy entry is expected for the season-opener in the south of France, with several of Europe’s most successful single-seater racing outfits set to confirm their plans in the coming weeks.
After the double-header in Pau, the championship then takes in further stand-alone events at Autodromo Nazionale Monza and Hockenheimring, with three shared events alongside the Formula Renault Eurocup – the next step on Renault Sport Racing’s junior single-seater development ladder – at Nurburgring, Hockenheimring and Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps.
