Anders Motorsport complete lineup with ex-German F4 racer Doureid Ghattas

Anders Motorsport have completed their two-car line up for the 2018 Formula Renault Northern European Cup season with the signing of German Formula 4 racer Doureid Ghattas.

Ghattas, who made the step into single-seater racing in 2017 following a successful karting career, began testing with the experienced German outfit at the Nurburgring last week as he familiarises himself with the 2.0 litre Formula Renault machine.

His debut in the category will come at the iconic Pau Grand Prix in southern France over the weekend of 11-13 May when the 2018 season gets underway.

Partnering Phil Hill at Marvin Anders’ outfit, the 15-year old will then compete at several of the continent’s premier racing circuits, including the Hockenheimring, Autodromo Nazionale Monza, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps, Nurburgring and Hungaroring as the series continues its commitment alongside the Renault Sport Racing ladder to develop the next generation of motorsport stars.

Three of those events share grids with the Formula Renault Eurocup, allowing Ghattas and the rest of the NEC field the opportunity to measure their talents against those racing at the next level of single-seater competition.

Doureid Ghattas said, “I still have a lot to learn but we’ll be ready by the time the season opener at Pau comes around. Already the 2.0 litre Formula Renault car feels much nicer to drive than my F4 machine did.

“It’s a fantastic move for me and Anders Motorsport were absolutely the right team to take that step with. Hopefully it’s a great year ahead and we can push forward from there.”

Marvin Anders said, “Doureid has already impressed in karts with a great show of ability, not least in his appointment to the ADAC Sports Foundation in 2015.

“Last year he was able to gain a lot of valuable experience in Formula 4 and ranked highly against his fellow newcomers.

“We’re delighted he wants to take the next step of his career with Anders Motorsport and join the NEC grid for 2018, and it’s already clear to see after testing that he’s in good form and we should have a very positive and successful season ahead.”
